ASSUMPTIONS OF MODERN SCIENCE
1. The world can be understood and predicted. [The alternative is that events occur randomly or at the whim of capricious gods.]
2. Explanations should be of this world. Proposing that epilepsy is the result of demonic possession is not "internally consistent".
