I know that a lot of you out there don't like Rush Limbaugh. Now, I happen to think that in between his conservative bias there are a lot of truthful, good points. You may not like him, but how does this sound for a deal? I'll listen to the show (so that you don't HAVE to) and bring any highlights here:
Presidential hopeful, John Kerry went on Clinton's old advisor, George Stephanopoulos' show (apparently he has a show on ABC that he anchors, but I've certainly never seen it) and did this interview. Stephanopoulos asked Kerry about some specifics in his National Security plan... and this is what he said:
John F. Kerry Stack: Kerry's "Secret Plan": "KERRY: I've been involved in this for a long time, longer than George Bush. [sic] I've spent 20 years negotiating, working, fighting for different kinds of treaties and different relationships around the world. [sic] I know that as president there's huge leverage that will be available to me, enormous cards to play, and I'm not going to play them in public, George. I'm not going to play them before I'm president."
And since I've already gone this far, I may as well let Rush do what he does:
"RUSH: So he's got a secret plan, but he's not gotten tell us what the plan is. He's holding a secret plan, folks. He's holding a deck of cards out there and he's got a secret hand but he's not going to divulge it. But did you catch this little thing about he 'spent 20 years negotiating, working, fighting for different kinds of treaties'? Could somebody tell me -- we want to know this -- can somebody tell me on what treaty or treaties any senator has actually negotiated? They don't negotiate! The president negotiates treaties. The Senate ratifies them, or doesn't. But that's it. If Kerry is out there negotiating treaties, folks, he's doing other things in secret that nobody knows about, and that he shouldn't be doing. My guess is, he didn't do anything. He didn't talk about his record in the Senate; we don't know what he's done, so that's why he can say he's out there doing all this stuff because nobody can prove he didn't because you can't prove he did.
He was for NAFTA but what did he negotiate? He didn't negotiate anything on NAFTA. They don't negotiate! The key word here is 'negotiate.' (Kerry sing-song voice) 'I've been negotiating, working, fighting for different kinds... I've done everything! I've done it all! I've done moooore than George Bush has, 20 years. Now, I didn't talk about that at my convention because I wanted to talk about my four months in Vietnaaaaaaaaam, and I was theeere." Yes, my friends, we're having fun with this, but it's actually pathetic. When you get right down to it, this is a man with no achievements other than his elections, but his name is not on any legislation. He's not sponsored any. He can't point any thing, and when this is pointed out, his answer is, "Weeeell, you don't know how things work in Waaaashington. I kept my name off a lot of things that I couldn't staaaand for my name to be attached to that I agreed with and I don't agree with them noooow," or something in that vein. This is going to be fun. This guy is going to crack up. I'm going to predict to you a Kerry crackup before the election. A meltdown. "
Kerry criticises Bush for his secrecy and Cheney for his "conducting secret meetings" while he also has a SECRET plan that he's hiding from the American pubilc-- A SECRET plan that he's hiding from US! Excuse me people, you still want to vote for this yahoo?
You know what I think? He's got jack-shit for a National Security plan.
