one of those posts where you tell what you did, not what you think:
yesterday was certifiably great. lunch at the bigtop which is always nice. we talked mostly of the george clinton concert, which caitlin enjoyed the most of all of us because of her crazy exploits. she and her best friend dani showed up without tickets two hours in advance, and after finding out that the show was sold out, proceeded to search for a way in, meeting people (one of whom gave them a beer, if not a ticket), and eventually making it into the theater through a back door, through a kitchen. the show was pretty cool though, even if i didn't know the music at all... it's this 61 year old big black man, up there funking it up. for a sold out show, it wasn't at all as crowded on the floor as the punk shows i'm more used to. probably over half the audience was tripping on something... including this one boy who had like a seizure right in front of us. i felt a little bad thinking how cute he was as he's there like waking up from passing out... but the girls and sam agreed so it was ok. so after lunch on saturday, we headed to the tontine to get a movie, ending up with "say anything" which was one of the better movies i've seen. good choice, sam. see, in this movie, john is younger, so we noticed his rampent hotness that has eluded me in his more recent movies... he had a CLASH shirt and responded to the question "what are your plans for the future?" with "i've thought about this quite a bit sir, and considering what's waiting out there for me, i don't want to sell anything, buy anything or process anything as a career. i don't want to sell anything bought or processed, buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold or bought or processed. as a career. you know, i don't want to do that.". so basically, the movie was really good and you should see it.
so then we went to my favorite thai place in portland, this tiny little corner of a store in the ghetto end of congress street, run by a woman who is proportionately tiny. if you ever go, it's seng thai, and the best thing on the menu is the phad prik king.
we stopped by peters, then, as they were still playing poker, went to celie's to get something or other. on the way back, jill and corinne and celie and i decided to go down maine street doing celia's favorite pass time--yelling at people from the car. so we're coming down maine, and we see the trucks are parked by the mall, outfitted with townies. i guess it's finally warm enough for them to resume their summer activites of loitering. so there they were, and there we were, with our spanish crazy music turned up wayy loud....' wkakaaka' is the newest term she's devised, and it worked perfectly. it was fun, so we turned back and came back by, doing it again. well... i guess townies can't really take that kind of thing too well, because as i was driving back to peter's we noticed that the car behind us was one of the townie cars, and it was following us. i turned quickly the opposite direction and gave them race... it was pretty good til we turned down a one-way street....(yeah), and as we saw the "dead end" sign all of us screamed. we agreed that none of us had screamed out of real like... fear/excitement in a really long time. well i turned in a driveway and got past them and lost them. so it worked out.... we were all on such a natural high by the time we got back, you have no idea. (cept if you were there, you might have an idea).
so then paul, nick, sam, jill, corinne and celia and i went back to jill's for a little a that, and some ben and jerrys and basic sitting around (and the haha game that VO had told us about!) and a lot of giggling. etc etc. it was fun, and we're all proud of jill for her first time! she very rightfully (and ironiously), put on champaign supernova in the car on the way over... and said, yeah i'm right here with you this time! haha. oh, and i managed to get my sunglasses back from paul, finally. i think i'm doing both of us a favor by me having them. speaking of paul, it was he who had the stuff, and is way too generous and nice about it, and who we all love for more than his hookups. he made up what could be a rap, though, abt what he wanted to do last night:
XxbuckdaddyxX :i want to go smoke
XxbuckdaddyxX: and see girls without shirts on
XxbuckdaddyxX :and i want a drinnk
yeah, it's kind of the quintessential rap.
anyway, after this weekend, the thought of an orange week just sucks way too much to think about... although it seems spring is coming...
